When the part will not fit the drill press
A drill press bores square holes, but only in parts that fit under its head. A portable guide brings the same square hole to a wide panel, a fitted cabinet or a round post. Two of these guides hold a 1/2 in self-locking chuck on steel rods, take your 3/8 or 1/2 in cordless drill, and stop at a set depth. A V-groove in the base centers round stock.
The angled guide tilts from -60 to 60 degrees on positive stops. The dog hole guide does one job: rows of 20 mm or 3/4 in holes at spacings from 64 to 256 mm, for an MFT-style bench top.
These jigs come from drill guides in the GOINGMAKE shop kit.
